Fremantle captain Kara Antonio with the RAC Derby trophy

Not only will Fremantle and West Coast be aiming for the four points and bragging rights in Sunday’s RAC Derby in the NAB AFL Women’s competition, they will be doing their best to raise funds for those affected by the devastating Wooroloo bushfire.

Naming rights sponsor RAC will dig deep with a donation of $2000 for every goal and $500 for every mark to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund in the clash.

RAC Group Executive Social and Community Impact, Patrick Walker said that despite the fierce rivalry between the two clubs, the RAC Derby was an important way to bring the state together after a challenging week.

“We’re incredibly proud to support our local AFLW and AFL teams through our sponsorship of the RAC Derby,” Walker said.

“Sport plays such an important role in our communities, and while the way we enjoy it is a bit different at the moment, it remains a key point of connection for so many Western Australians.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult week for so many Western Australians. Our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by these devastating bushfires and we can’t express enough gratitude to the heroes in our emergency services for their enormous efforts on the ground.

“On game day, we’ll be contributing to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund to help victims of the devastating Wooroloo bushfire. For every mark taken, $500 will be contributed to the fund, with a further $2,000 added for each goal scored.”
