AFL Fantasy genius and Freo fan Selby Lee-Steere is back for another year with ‘Moreira’s Magic’, the ultimate fantasy resource for the 2021 season.

The season guide has the same name of Selby’s fantasy team that won first place and a car in 2017 and 2018.

With two cars in the garage, Selby has turned to helping others with a season guide that raises funds for Fremantle’s Starlight Purple Haze game.

In the past three years, Selby has raised almost $90,000 for seriously ill children and their families.

The guide has detailed stats and Selby’s thoughts on all of the 770 AFL players in 2021.

Selby told fremantlefc.com.au about his go-to Fremantle players this year. While he rates Nat Fyfe in real life footy, he said Freo fans would be better off going for one of their young guns in Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw or Adam Cerra.

“In AFL Fantasy, if Fyfe takes a big contested mark and does a nice kick inside 50, it’s worth the same as a little tackle and handball from Andy Brayshaw,” Selby said.

“We probably saw the breakout of Serong and Brayshaw last year but this year we tip them both, as well as Cerra, to be good picks again.”

The season guide allows fans to sort players by ‘points per minute’, which shows that Serong and Brayshaw could improve significantly in 2021.

“If you use the guide to sort points per minute, Andy Brayshaw is in the top 20 in that stat in 2020,” Selby said.

“You can also see that he only played 75 per cent game time. His point per minute average is pretty elite and you’d think, as someone going into his fourth year, he should see more game time.

“If he continues to score at that same rate, he’ll improve again.

“You can also see that Serong averaged 83 points for the year but in the last five games that increased to 95points as he saw more time on ground.

“He’s the 70th most expensive midfielder, but he could be a top 20 mid this season. If he follows that trajectory like most second year players do, he could break out to be a fantasy star this year. Not many people will pick him but I probably would. He’s a gun.”

Second year defender Hayden Young was the other Docker Selby said should be locked in your Fantasy side.

Selby was first introduced to Starlight by friend and former Docker Matt de Boer, who is on the board of Starlight NSW.

“After winning two cars I felt I had gotten enough from the game and wanted to give something back. I’d seen the stuff that Starlight do and visited a few of the Starlight rooms and what’s not to like about what that organisation does?” Selby said.

“I’ve been involved further through the Starlight Purple Haze game and meeting some of the Starlight kids. It’s so special for them and their family.”

Selby is hopeful of expanding the fundraising for Starlight through a sponsor, who he hopes can match the donations from the Moreira’s Magic Season Guide to his fundraising total.
