Fremantle will be heading back home for round four of the NAB AFL Women’s competition to take on the Gold Coast Suns at Fremantle Oval. The match will be played at 2.10pm WST on Saturday, February 20.

Fremantle’s last game of the 2020 AFLW season was against the Suns in a semi-final at Fremantle oval, with Freo coming home 70-point winners prior to the season being called off.

The Gold Coast Suns are yet to win a game in 2021 while Fremantle have continued their unbeaten run after defeating Adelaide by 30 points on Sunday afternoon.

Senior AFLW coach Trent Cooper said that the team was looking forward to getting home and facing the next challenge that comes their way.

“The girls packed accordingly as we thought we could have been heading up to Queensland. However, we have just been told that we are not, and we will be heading home on Tuesday,” Cooper said.

“The girls were looking forward to maybe getting up to the Gold Coast for a couple of weeks, but they will have to rearrange their lives and get back to Perth and get stuck into Gold Coast next week.

"We’re really looking forward to that, the girls took the news well. They will just roll with the punches because that’s what you have to do.”

Cooper said that the team will be looking to learn from the challenges of the 2020 AFL season.

“As we saw in the men’s competition, the sides that took on those challenges the best were the ones that performed the best,” Cooper said.

“We want to make sure that we don’t have anything outside of our control influence the way we play so they have been really good in that regard.”
