Fremantle are set to face Hawthorn without promising duo Lachie Schultz and Hayden Young after the pair were injured during Sunday’s clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium.

Young was replaced by medical sub Liam Henry at half time after picking up a hamstring injury late in the second term.

Schultz is set to miss at least one week under the AFL’s 12-day concussion protocols after sustaining a head knock in the third term and coming off the ground.

“Hayden Young did his hammy, and Lachie Schultz looks like he’s got concussion. Luke Ryan should be fine, he had a bit of calf tightness before the game and got through it ok,” Longmuir said.

Longmuir said Fremantle take their time before making a decision on Nat Fyfe’s availability.

He stressed that rushing the return of the captain was not the answer to Freo’s midfield woes against Carlton, where the Blues dominated the contest.

“Nat will come back if he passes all of the protocols. Like I’ve said all week, it looks really promising,” Longmuir said.

“We’ve got to look at our form as well, we can’t be a team that goes up and down. We want to be consistent.

“That’s not just about winning and losing, that’s about application to role, application to the contest.

“We need to look at personnel all over the ground, but we are limited with who we can bring in so we’ll have to weigh that up at match committee.

“We got dominated in the contest all over the ground, including stoppage, and centre bounce was horrible early in the second quarter.

“That led to them holding field position and they defended their front half really well. Our ball security and the ability to find anyone loose was non-existent so we got dominated.”
