Andy, huge win on the road, how was that?
It was a massive team effort, first win away for the year. A really proud win, everyone played their role, stuck to the basics and it was just a great team win.

The first two games on the road weren’t how you wanted. How did you address that this week?
We really tried to hone in on our basics and preparation away from home. We’d put two really good home performances in and we really wanted to replicate how we go about it in the week away. I think we really did that. Everyone had a really big week in terms of their prep, we watched heaps of vision, our recovery was really strong and like I said before we played our way and played to our basics and got it done.

What was the key to the mids getting on top like they did?
Really strong body work, it helps when Sean’s doing really well in the ruck  so we just played our role, a few times it spilled our way and we were able to own the outside, get the ball and put it forward to our talls and we were able to lock it in from there. So we played a lot of front half footy which was a lot easier to play.

Losing Adam Cerra to injury early must have been tough?
Yes, really difficult. I think he got tackled and hurt his ankle. But the boys stepped up – Dave, Fyfey and Caleb played really good games so when he went down everyone else stepped up.

ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS

Who impressed you out there today?
Luke (Ryan) would have to be best on for me, he just took intercept mark after intercept mark. You just know what you’re going to get from him and we love to play with him, he was really good.

And James Aish was also good today?
Yes, a few really big contests from ‘Jimmy’ and another bloke I love to play with just because you know what you’re going to get from him. He halves or wins every contest.

And Taberner up forward?
It was a really strong contest from Tabs and he finished a lot of those goals so he played really well.

What was the message from Justin Longmuir after the game?
He was very happy. First win away from home, we have a six day break now heading into the Kangaroos so we just need to be switched on, really strong recovery focus over the next few days, get home and get back to work.

You probably haven’t had a chance to think about North Melbourne yet but it’s the Club’s annual Len Hall Tribute Game– what will that mean to you?
It means a lot. It’s always a big game on the agenda, we just want to go out there and play our brand of footy like we did today and hopefully come away with the four points. It’s going to be awesome with a great atmosphere so if you’re a Freo fan get down there because it’s going to be great.
