RAC Derby week can be a testing time in households all around WA, but for Freo members Robert and Trish, their biggest problem is simply deciding who the best Freo Docker is.

The pair were down at the Club on Monday night for a tour of the facility - won as a part of 2020’s Forever Hero Megadraw.

When they were shown around the locker room they gravitated to two different areas.

“Nat Fyfe goes without saying, but David Mundy is my favourite. He just continues to perform week in week out,” Robert said.

“It's just good to watch him get around the field, as basically an old man in the game, and still outperform a lot of the kids.

“His work ethic and his backup and his repeat efforts are just awesome.”

To Robert’s credit, he has endured Trish’s love for the captain with a smile on his face.

“Trish certainly is a nutter when it comes to Nat,” Robert said.

“Her phone saver was Nat, it was only recently changed over because it was getting a bit old.

“We actually met him once at a drinks evening and it was great to have a private chat and get photos with him.”

Both have been Freo fans since day one, and when they got together five years ago, Robert jumped on board as a member.

“Trish has been a member for 17 years. She was a member at Subiaco and when we relocated to Optus Stadium, I started membership,” Robert said.

“It’s a happy coincidence that we’re both Fremantle fans, but I wouldn’t have had a choice anyway. Trish has a purple and white kitchen. She is basically purple everything. She bleeds purple!

“I've always followed the Dockers since they started. I've had Fremantle businesses, I spent a lot of time in Fremantle as a member of the Fremantle Sailing Club. I've always followed the Freo Dockers since they started 26 years ago.”

Robert and Trish are just two of the thousands of Freo Dockers members honoured at the recently installed Forever Heroes pillar at Club reception.

“I feel like it’s similar to when my elder children all signed a tile when they were in primary school for the Bell Tower. It was just wonderful memento that when the Bell Tower was finished and all those tiles were laid, they've been relocated now, but I feel it’s akin to that,” Robert said.

“It was just cool to go and have a look at all the Forever Hero members who donated their whole membership.

“We enjoyed finding our names and taking a photo. It's just a nice memento.”

As well as being the RAC Derby, Fremantle will also be using their final home game of the season to say thank you to all of their 2021 members for their dedicated support.

If you’re at the game, make sure you’re on your toes as there will be plenty of exciting giveaways!
