The Purple Hands Foundation has partnered with uLaunch and Zero2Hero to deliver an 8-week mental health program specifically designed for Year 8 and 9 students.

Youth mental health issues are rising at an alarming rate in Western Australia. 1 in 4 young people are currently experiencing poor mental health and WA has the second highest rate of youth suicide in the country.

Goals aHead is designed to educate and empower young people to develop their understanding of mental health issues. It engages students in meaningful conversations to eliminate the stigma around mental health, to increase help-seeking behaviours and to develop the resilience to cope in the future.

Each session combines physical activity with classroom-based learning, making them interactive and practical to maximise student engagement and impact.

The key objectives of the program are to;

  • Increase the level of mental health literacy
  • Decrease mental health stigma in participants
  • Increase help-seeking intentions by the end
