Justin Longmuir has set out the Club’s plans for new Fremantle recruits Jordan Clark and Will Brodie in season 2022.
Clark and Brodie were acquired by Fremantle in the recent Continental Tyres Trade Period from Geelong and Gold Coast respectively, with the pair featuring on the training track for the first official day of pre-season on Monday.
Longmuir said Clark had slotted right in, explaining that a position at half-back would be the best fit for the young speedster.
“Jordan feels like a part of the furniture already…he has been training with some of our boys for about a month now, so he knows them well and he did a really good job at the time trial yesterday,” Longmuir told AFL.com.au.
“We are going to give him an opportunity down back, we think he can be a really good half back for us and it’s where he played a lot of his junior footy.
“His run and carry and kicking off half back is something that can really help us set up some play from down there.
“He’s got to get some things right with his defensive positioning and in the understanding of our game plan and those sorts of things, but we’ll give him an opportunity down back to start with.”

Longmuir said he saw Brodie as an inside player that could add a lot to Fremantle’s midfield mix next season.
“We’re really bullish on him, we’ll give him an opportunity primarily as an inside mid,” Longmuir said.
“There’s going to need to be a secondary role there just to get his game time up, as is the case with all of our mids.
“Whether that is on the wing or we try and bring some of his aerial strengths to the forward line, we will work on that when he hits the program fully.
“He has all the qualities there to be a good inside mid for us, he is really good in traffic with his hands and with his ability to drive from inside to out.
“We’re really going to focus on his strengths…we feel like there is a spot there if he has a good pre-season.”
The first day back for Fremantle’s first to fourth year playing group was met with impressive showings in four 1km time trial runs, leaving Longmuir happy with the way his young players had returned for pre-season.
“I was very impressed with the way the players presented overall,” Longmuir said.
“I know they have been doing a lot of work together, so that has held them in good stead.
“The way that Andy Brayshaw and Caleb Serong presented themselves yesterday was first class, add Jordan Clark to that list, and a couple of our younger second year players really stood up and showcased what they can do as well.”
