The AFL advised Fremantle on Wednesday that their round two match against the GWS GIANTS scheduled for Fremantle Oval will be relocated to Victoria University Whitten Oval.

The date and time for the match remains unchanged, with the game against the GWS GIANTS to commence at 5.10pm AEDT, on Sunday 16 January, 2022.

The AFL is working closely with the Club and any decision made is in consultation with respective State Governments and aims to minimise any potential disruption and risk for both the clubs and the broader competition.

The women's team will now fly to Victoria following their round one clash with Adelaide and begin their extended road trip playing the following four rounds interstate due to WA's border restrictions.

AFL General Manager Competition Management Laura Kane said the health and safety of everyone remains paramount and the league would continue to take the advice of governments and health officials.

“The health and safety of everyone in the game and the wider community remains the priority as we continue to navigate the pandemic,” Ms Kane said.

“Our competition will continue to remain adaptable as we navigate the 2022 NAB AFLW Premiership Season and the AFL thanks all involved clubs, players, AFLPA, venues, governments, and supporters for their understanding.

“We also thank the Fremantle Dockers and GWS GIANTS for their adaptability and understanding, as well as the Western Bulldogs for being so accommodating and providing a neutral venue for the round two match to take place.”

Any fans who already purchased an online ticket or any members who purchased additional tickets to the round two home game will be able to receive a full refund through Ticketmaster, which will be processed automatically.

However, fans can still purchase tickets for our season opener against Adelaide on Saturday 8 January in Fremantle with the Club’s next home game happening in round six, when we take on Carlton on Saturday 12 February at Fremantle Oval.

Tickets for round six go on sale on Wednesday 12 January at 10am for members and 12pm for the general public.
