The Traders podcast have run through the Fremantle players to consider for your fantasy team, with registrations now open for AFL Fantasy in 2022.

Hosts Warnie, Roy and Calvin discussed the Freo players worth looking at.

Caleb Serong (mid) $691,000
Caleb Serong is the number one that we’re going to go for, he’s the poster boy for Freo in AFL Fantasy. He’s a third-year player, that’s when players breakout, and he’s priced at 82 points per game.

Looking at his end of season form, he averaged 94 in the final eight rounds. His last three games were 118, 117, 116. All very nice numbers. Adam Cerra’s gone, he’s in there with his buddy Andrew Brayshaw. It’s looking good for him. Priced at 82 points per game, 95 at the worst is what we expect from him at the moment, so that makes him a pretty easy pick.

Sean Darcy (ruck) $786,000
Sean Darcy played 21 games and averaged 84 per game. He’s priced at 94 per game, that average is great and there’s upside in that. He’s gone up from 65 to 74 in the previous years.

His numbers last year were pretty consistent, however one thing to consider is that his big scores came against favourable opponents. He had 133 against Essendon where (Sam) Draper didn’t play, it was (Andrew) Phillips rucking. He had 132 against the Suns, 122 against Hawthorn with (Jonathon) Ceglar as their main man and (Ben) McEvoy playing as a forward. Ceglar can ruck but they’re things that are just worth knowing.

He could hit 100 but I think 94 is about where he is at because of those bigger scores - then again, he’s still going to have opportunities against some teams again in 2022. He is young and he is on an upward trajectory.

Will Brodie (mid/fwd) $387,000
He’s priced at 46 per game but his 2019 average was 88 from eight games with a top score of 142. In the VFL in 2021, he averaged 117 from nine games. He was a number nine draft pick in his draft year. He’s also a DPP (dual position player) and at the price of $387,000 with mid-forward status, he can slot in as a F5 (fifth forward). I think he’s best 22 but that’s one to monitor this pre-season.

Liam Henry (fwd) $317,000
The wing roles at Freo are up for grabs. Darcy Tucker wants one of the wing spots and the other could be Liam Henry. He’s training with the midfield and looking very fit. He’s one to watch at $317,000 classified as forward who is set for a midfield role.

Hayden Young (def) $543,000
We’ve got to consider Hayden Young. He’s priced at $543,000 at 65 points per game but with him being a couple of years in, this could be his chance to break out. He’s one to monitor and watch, (at $543,000) it might just be too much of an awkward price. If you’re in a draft league, he could be a great late pickup.

Joel Hamling (def) $196,000
A defender at 196,000, that’s almost basement price. $196,000 is an average of 23 points per game. He’s best 22 and should double what his price is.

Nathan O’Driscoll (def/mid) $190,000
He’s put on a lot of muscle and is one to watch as a defender / mid at $190,000.

Andrew Brayshaw (mid) $875,000
Andrew Brayshaw averaged 104 in 2021. He’s had a nice progression in his career and his fantasy numbers. I think he’s just going to be a triple-figure performer.

Jordan Clark (mid) $552,000
The problem with Jordan Clark is that he’s only classified as a midfielder to start the season. 66 per game might be a bit too much to pay until he gains defender status. He could be a good free agent pickup after a few rounds.
