Fremantle have listed four players as tests for availability in Sunday’s RAC Derby clash with West Coast.

Matt Taberner (hamstring), Nathan Wilson (shoulder), Sean Darcy (ankle) and Josh Treacy (ankle) could all be in the frame for selection if they get through main training on Thursday morning.

Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell provided the latest on the quartet in Tuesday’s Perth Radiological Clinic injury update.

“Matt (Taberner) is progressing really well, he had a great session on the weekend and will do another big session at main training on Thursday,” Bell said.

“Nathan (Wilson) is also going well, he will be at training on Thursday and if he can get through that, then he will be a genuine test for the weekend.

“Sean (Darcy) turned his ankle pretty sharply in the third quarter against the Saints. There is a lot of swelling there and we will see how that progresses over the next couple of days, but there is a possibility that he will be available this week.

“Josh (Treacy) started the game really well, his feet just got tangled up and he twisted his ankle also. At this stage, he is going probably a bit better than Sean Darcy’s, and we’re really confident that he will be right for this week.”

Meanwhile, skipper Nat Fyfe is in good spirits after undergoing surgery on his back over the weekend.

“He is going really well, he is upbeat and positive,” Bell said.

“We will give it another couple of days before he will be assessed again on when he can commence running.

“At the time of the surgery, it was told to us that it would be a couple of weeks before he begins running, and then a return to train and play after that.”

Bell confirmed that David Mundy would remain in the AFL’s health and safety protocols, while first-year player Matt Johnson has hit an important milestone in his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.

“David will, unfortunately, be unavailable for the RAC Derby, he will remain in the AFL’s health and safety protocols,” Bell said.

“Johnno is out of the moon boot, so he will begin some more serious cross training and foot intrinsic work to get it going.

“I believe he will be on the AlterG (anti-gravity treadmill) as well this week, it shouldn’t be too long before he is back out there training.”
