David Mundy is impressed with how midfielder Andy Brayshaw has been handling the extra pressure on the field this season.

The 20th annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, saw Fremantle defeat GWS by 34-points in a high-pressure game.

GWS’ Lachie Aish was tasked with a run-with role on Brayshaw, with the Freo midfielder rising to the challenge to eventually break away from Ash and kick a crucial a goal in the final term.

Brayshaw finished the game with 26 disposals, six tackles, five marks, 331 metres gained and 110 AFL Fantasy points.

“We asked Andy and the guys who get tagged, Nat’s been through it, I’ve been through it in the past,” Mundy told Fox Footy post-game.

“We ask them to sacrifice a lot of their positioning around the ground to open up stoppages for us, so it’s really incumbent on us to block…and try to get Andy into the game.

“He’s tagged for a reason, he’s a bloody good player.”

A third-quarter drop off has been a theme so far this season for Fremantle, and Mundy said there hadbeen a strong focus on avoiding a dip after the half time break.

“We knew the Giants really thrived off that contest, the contest was great from the midfield in particular, so that was a big focus for us going in,” Mundy said.

“The first three weeks we’ve conceded a goal in the first centre bounce of the third quarter, and we didn’t do that tonight, but it was a good all-round performance I thought from our side.”

Mundy said securing the win in the Club’s 20th annual Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32, had meant a lot to the playing group.

“It’s lovely isn’t it, to have a performance like that tonight,” Mundy said.

“The Starlight Purple Haze Game means a lot to the Club and our supporters, so it’s good to be back on deck.”
