Fremantle are the temporary holders of the top spot on the AFL ladder, with Melbourne and Brisbane still to play in round eight.

But no matter where Jordan Clark’s team sits by the end of the weekend, the new Fremantle recruit knew from day one that he had arrived in the midst of an important time for the Club.

Speaking after Freo’s 78-point win against North Melbourne on Friday at Optus Stadium, Clark was asked on ABC Grandstand if there was one moment that stood out to him that showed what Fremantle could be capable of.

“I knew when I first came to the Club, just what a tight young group it was, and how everyone gelled and wanted to see each other succeed and were really happy for each other's performance,” Clark said.

“When I saw that, I thought, yeah, this this could be something special here. Everyone's on the same page, got the same mindset, same focus. That was probably the moment I noticed it.”

After a difficult week that saw six players enter the Health and Safety Protocols – with further restrictions at training that prevented the players working and meeting together – Fremantle delivered a near flawless performance while playing to their system.

Clark said the whole playing list is on the same page.

“The boys try really hard, we've got a really young group and within that group, there's a lot of young leaders who really drive the Club forward,” Clark said.

“We have our game plan and we work really hard on executing that, we all know our roles pretty well at the moment, we seem to be executing them and on top of our skills, it's being really confident and having our mates’ backs.

“There’s all the support from the boys out on the oval knowing that whatever we do, they're going to back us in and it's starting to come out. We're starting to see some boys bring what they've got. It's really good to watch.”
