Nat Fyfe has received good news with his hamstring injury while Rory Lobb is firming to play in Friday night’s blockbuster against Melbourne, according to Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell.

Lobb missed Freo’s draw with Richmond due to a chest injury sustained against Sydney, with Tuesday’s training session key for Lobb in his recovery.

“Rory will hopefully get through main training tomorrow and we’re quite confident that he’ll be available for Friday night,” Bell said.

While Fyfe has escaped a ‘serious’ hamstring injury, Bell said there was no timeframe on the captain’s return as yet.

“Nathan escaped serious damage to his hamstring,” Bell said.

“He’ll undertake a reconditioning program that is KPI based, so we can’t put a timeframe on it, but it is his good side so we’re quite positive.”

Forward Sam Switkowski is also pushing to return this season from a back injury sustained against Hawthorn.

“I was hopeful that I’d be able to give a timeframe on Sam,” Bell said.

“He’s still going really well but we haven’t got an exact date set in stone yet.

“He’s ticking all the boxes and hopefully he can continue to do that and we can see him out there soon.”

Both Connor Blakely (hand) and Joel Hamling (oblique) are tests to play this weekend while Sebit Kuek is expected to spend a week on the sidelines due to a calf injury.
