A successful season for Lachie Schultz in 2023 will be defined by a Fremantle premiership, with the small forward wanting to do ‘whatever he can’ to see Freo succeed.

Schultz is often referred to as Fremantle’s ‘barometer’, with Freo winning a run of 19 straight games when he kicked two goals or more.

The 24-year-old kicked a career-high 30 goals in 2023 but knows he needs to keep progressing.

“I want to take my personal game forward, we’ve got a really good coaching group around me to help me do that,” Schultz said.

“I just want team success, so whatever way I can help wherever I can help, I’m more than happy and I’ll put my hand up to do anything.

“We pride ourselves on being a team of role players and the more we improve at our roles, the further we’ll go.”

Schultz expects the 2023 season to be hotly contested and is hopeful Fremantle will be in the mix.

“We were pretty happy to make finals after six years with no finals,” Schultz said.

“We haven’t achieved anything still, so we just want to keep improving and we want to get better than that.

“That’s the benchmark and we believe we can win a flag. It’s a tough competition this year, there’s a lot of clubs that have a chance and it’s very even.

“We’ll take it week by week and win as many games as we can.”
