Alex Pearce attended his first AFL Captain’s day on Thursday at Marvel Stadium, where he answered some hard hitting questions from both the media and Freo fans.

After a two-hour session with the media, Pearce hopped onto Instagram live to chat to the Purple Army just one week out from round one against St Kilda.

In his Q&A, Pearce revealed that new leader Sam Switkowski is set for another important role in picking the pre-game playlist.

“I would like to (do it) but the boys would strike because they don’t like some of my tunes unfortunately,” Pearce said.

“Blake Acres used to do the tunes, so we’ve got a new DJ this year, Sam Switkowski has got really good music taste. I hope he takes the reins.

“I’m pretty happy with anyone as long as it’s not Sean Darcy, I can’t have Sean on the tunes, it’s a like a So Fresh album from 2010. Nope, can’t do it.”

He also called out Liam Henry, for having the ‘weirdest’ game day routine.

“Liam eats Vegemite at half time to help with cramp, I don’t know if it works! That’s probably the weirdest one,” Pearce said.

And the key defender highlighted tall forward Josh Treacy as his pick to have a breakout season.

“This is because I get to look at him closely, but Josh Treacy has been going after every session, he’s been super hard to play against,” Pearce said.

“He’s kicked a few goals on me, unfortunately, and he’s played really well the last couple weeks.”
