Star forward Michael Walters will be given every chance to make his return against North Melbourne on Saturday at Optus Stadium, according to Executive General Manager of Football Peter Bell.

In the Perth Radiological Clinic Injury Update for round two, Bell gave a promising assessment of what is an almost fully fit Fremantle list.

Walters played just over a half of football for Peel on Saturday in a pre-season game against Subiaco as he builds from an achilles injury.

“Michael had a great attitude down at Peel and got through his minutes, so we’ll have a look at how he trains at main training,” Bell said.

Bell added that Nathan O’Driscoll got through a full game as he builds from a pre-season foot injury.

“Nathan ran out the game really strongly,” Bell said.

“He’s a really good runner so I’m sure he’ll want to press his claims at training.”

Both Hugh Davies (hip) and Conrad Williams (quad) sat out of the Peel clash, with Davies a test to run out for the Thunder in Saturday’s pre-season game against West Perth.

“Hugh’s got a sore hip, something that is not uncommon for a young player,” Bell said.

“He’s a test to be available this week.

“Conrad has a bit of quad awareness which is also not uncommon for a young player. He might miss a week or two just to let that settle.”

Forward Travis Colyer is listed as being five weeks away as he recovers from knee surgery from earlier this month.
