Ten Fremantle-listed players were in action for Peel in their dominant 65-point win over Perth at Rushton Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Thunder controlled play all over the ground, conceding just one goal for the entire match – as well as only three behinds in the second half.

Fremantle players starred across multiple lines with Sebit Kuek lighting up the forward 50 to kick four goals, to go with 14 disposals and seven marks.

Karl Worner was involved in everything, collecting 30 possessions (including 18 kicks) and eight marks.

Peel’s forward line also consisted of Joshua Treacy, Josh Corbett who kicked a goal apiece, while Tom Emmett had plenty of opportunities but couldn’t convert – finishing with five behinds.

Nathan Wilson and Hugh Davies joined WAFL league debutant Joshua Draper in defence - while Neil Erasmus and Liam Henry ran through the midfield.

Erasmus had a quiet day with just eight disposals but applied the pressure to lay nine tackles for the afternoon, while Liam Henry racked up 17 disposals and had four tackles.

Wilson scored the first major for the Thunder before Kuek added to the total with his first of the day through a stylish banana kick.

Peel looked to build their lead through a scrappy second term but ultimately locked the ball into their forward 50 with the margin reaching 20 points by half time.

Pressure through the midfield was paramount to Peel’s first half dominance with Henry slotting well into the Peel side in his first WAFL game of the season.

Peel kept up the high intensity in the third term, restricting Perth to just one point however the Thunder were not able to convert many of their opportunities in front of goal.

The flood gates opened in the final quarter of play as Peel scored six goals to ensure the score reflected a commanding performance.

Erasmus spoke post-match on the improvement of Peel’s play as the game progressed.

“We started pretty well but we just didn’t hit the scoreboard, we kicked a lot of points and weren’t able to convert on our opportunities,” Erasmus said.

“We had a really good run in that last quarter and we ended up running over the top of them.”

Erasmus praised Wilson’s inclusion as a big positive for the team.

“He’s been really good, he brings a really good energy to the group,” Erasmus said.

“He’s a great leader, the way he plays, the way he leads off the field. It was really good to have him back.”

Peel will look to make it three wins in a row to start their 2023 campaign when they face South Fremantle in round three on Saturday 22 April at Fremantle Oval at 2:10pm.
