Josh Treacy has highlighted the importance of Fremantle’s remaining six games of the home and away season, as the young list look to return to their best footy.

Fremantle have lost five of six games following the bye after a promising block of games where they defeated Hawthorn, Sydney, Geelong and Melbourne.

Freo fielded the least experienced and second youngest team of the round in their 46-point loss to Collingwood.

The 20-year-old key forward kicked three goals in the clash as one of several strong performances from Freo’s younger players, alongside 19-year-old Neil Erasmus who had 26 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 10 tackles and five clearances.

“We’ve still got six games left and we can take a lot out of this season,” Treacy said.

“We’re clearly very young, but I think it’s exciting at the same time.

“We have the ability to put these games together now and work together and to build something.

“Everything might not come off at the moment but I feel moving forward into the back end of this year, and the start of next year, that we can build something and it can be very exciting for our footy club.”

Treacy said the team was dissatisfied with their second quarter performance, where Collingwood kicked 10 goals to put the game out of reach.

“We’re clearly disappointed but if we look at the bigger picture, we were able to be there for three quarters,” Treacy said.

“Clearly it was a disappointing second quarter, but I think there were a lot of positives to take out of other parts of the game where we were able to match it and if not go better than them.”
