Karl Worner and Brennan Cox running laps at training on Wednesday 26 July.

Fremantle could have up to four players become available for Sunday’s clash with Brisbane at Optus Stadium.

Brennan Cox, Will Brodie, Bailey Banfield and Karl Worner all need to prove their fitness as they push for a return to playing at either AFL or WAFL level this weekend.

In the Perth Radiological Clinic injury update for round 21, High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said Cox has made a speedy recovery from an ankle injury sustained in round 17 against Carlton.

Worner also sustained a calf injury in the Carlton clash in what was his AFL debut.

“Brennan’s been a little bit quicker than we first thought,” Merriman said.

“It speaks to his professionalism and diligence to his reconditioning. That’s a big win for us.

“All four are progressing really well, they’ve obviously got to tick the box of main training to be available for selection.”

Young defender Josh Draper is expected to spend another week on the sidelines due to a groin injury.

“Josh is going well, we’re still progressing his strength and his running loads, so he’ll be another week,” Merriman said.
