Fremantle secured a comprehensive 52-point win over West Coast in Saturday morning's match simulation for their first pre-season hit-out against opposition in 2023.

The 11.10 (76) to 3.6 (24) victory came off the back of relentless midfield dominance and structure from the outset, which Freo led for the entirety of the contest.

Mim Strom, who was among Freo's best all day, was particularly influential early and got the ball rolling Freo's way with consistent first hands on the ball, allowing experienced midfielders Gabby O'Sullivan and Kiara Bowers to go to work.

Captain Hayley Miller also got moving in the first, bagging Freo's first for the day after being hit up by draftee Jae Flynn before starting a passage out of the middle for the next goal.

Miller's clearance was worked wide then up the wing before Orlagh Lally's entry allowed O'Sullivan to rise over her defender and haul in a big mark, before going back to finish the goal.

Freo kept the Eagles scoreless to lead by 21 at the first change, and would add a further four goals in the second term to extend the margin to 40 at the main break.

Bowers and Miller continued to benefit from Strom's ruck dominance, both winning the ball at source and getting the ball inside 50. Aine Tighe was having a huge presence deep as a result, bagging her first of the day in the term before getting involved in the chain as Bowers added one herself.

Freo's structure and pressure to keep the ball trapped in the forward half was relentless, allowing the back half to repel and hit short targets through the middle of the ground.

There were a few nervy moments in the third term as West Coast began to arrest momentum and move the footy their way, keeping Freo goalless and registering two themselves, but couldn't add more despite more forward half dominance.

The backline and midfield were able hold to get stoppages when necessary to withstand the pressure as Bowers led from the front.

Ruck/forward Sarah Wielstra and new recruit Ariana Hetherington took second half contests up the ground.

Holding a four goal lead at the final change, Freo stormed home with a four goal to none final term to eventually win the contest comprehensively.

Aine Tighe was a significant aerial presence throughout the game and took a strong one-on-one grab early, kicking a deserved second and repeatedly getting up the ground and involved in a number of passages with strong hands.

Young gun Dana East got busy in the final term as well, linking up in a one-two with Madi Scanlon before dishing off to Joanne Cregg for her first unofficial goal in purple.

East then got on the end of a forward-half handball chain to slam through the final goal of the contest from the top of the square.

Fremantle will now look forward to an official AFLW Practice Match with Collingwood next Saturday at Victor George Kailis Oval in Cockburn before heading into round one.
