AFLW Senior Coach Lisa Webb has encouraged her players to round out the year with a strong performance in next weekend’s Pride Round clash with Sydney at Fremantle Oval.

Freo will look to even up the win-loss ledger at 5-5 next weekend, currently sitting in 13th place on the ladder with four wins after Saturday’s 33-point loss to Melbourne.

Speaking post-game, Webb stressed she was proud of her group’s efforts in their performance yet disappointed at the result against a stronger Melbourne outfit.

“It was disappointing to not get the result, I’m always proud of the girls and I thought today we fought really tough,” Webb said.

“We obviously were a few soldiers down and we know how impressive Melbourne are as an outfit, I’m proud of the girls' performance but really disappointed not to get the win.

“I said to the girls in the changerooms before that every game gives us an opportunity to improve and we really want to see out the season as strong as we can.

“We are already priming the girls for a big performance this week against Sydney.”

Webb pointed to Freo’s youth as some of the impressive performers against the Demons, while also highlighting the individual efforts of inside midfielder Dana East (11 clearances) and forward Megan Kauffman who booted a career-high three goals.

“There were some really impressive performances by our young players, they fought their way to the end,” Webb said.

“I was really excited to see Easty go to work and she was complemented by other mids as well.

“Meg kicked three which was pleasing, she always looks dangerous and she is a really strong competitor and did a good job forward for us today.”

Fremantle will wear the third iteration of Fremantle’s Pride jumper next weekend against Sydney, designed this year by vice-captain Ange Stannett, which showcases the Progress Pride Flag on the front of the jumper, with the chevrons forming part of the flag.

A portion of every sale of Fremantle Dockers Pride merchandise purchased through The Dock will be donated to Living Proud, a non-profit organisation which aims to promote the wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer and other sexuality, sex and gender diverse people in Western Australia.
