The future is purple for the majority of Fremantle’s AFLW side, with 25 players having signed contracts for Season 2024 and beyond.

16 players from the 25 have signed multi-year deals, including all of the top 10 players in Fremantle’s 2023 Best and Fairest, pledging their commitment to the Club.

The top 10 in Fremantle’s 2023 Best and Fairest included winner Ange Stannett, All Australian Emma O’Driscoll, Mim Strom, Aine Tighe, Laura Pugh, Hayley Miller, Orlagh Lally, Dana East, Megan Kauffman and Madi Scanlon.

Vice-captain and B&F winner, Stannett totalled a career-high 68 tackles for the 2023 season, doubling her figures from the previous year, as well as 144 disposals – the most she has ever had from her six seasons playing AFLW.

O’Driscoll, who took out second place, was also selected in the All-Australian team, and third place winner Mim Strom was selected in the All-Australian squad as well as AFLPA’s 22under22 squad.

AFLW Football Operations Manager Darryn Fry said the signings were a great outcome for Fremantle.

“The Club is proud with its retention of this dedicated bunch, with 25 re-committing to their future at Fremantle for 2024 and beyond,” Fry said.

“This represents a strong message from our playing group with where our program is heading under the guidance of Lisa Webb.

“We have such a driven group who are all extremely hard workers, and we are confident they will be striving for success in 2024."

“We look forward to seeing what this group can do in Season 2024 and beyond.”

The new CBA signed in September allows AFLW players the ability to sign contracts beyond two seasons for the first time in the competition's history.

The 2023 AFLW Trade Period saw Fremantle sign on three key talents in Aisling McCarthy, Gabby Newton and Ash Brazill – all on multi-year deals as well.

Fremantle will head into the 2023 AFLW Draft with two picks, in rounds three and four (pick 52 and 73).

The 2023 AFLW Draft will be held on Monday 18 December and broadcast live on AFL.com.au.
