Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said the team will be as balanced as possible as they move on from the "disappointing" 10-point loss to Carlton at Gather Round.

Longmuir said despite some execution errors late in the game, he was happy with the performance the team put together.

“There are a million different things we can look at, but we pushed a really good side right until the end,” Longmuir said during his post-match press conference.

“The message to the players after the game was we didn’t execute key moments, but the bigger picture and overall scheme of it was we played a good game of footy and shouldn’t lose any belief in the way we are playing.

“When it comes down to a kick and you’re up against good sides the little things matter, and you need to execute.

“In the end they were just a little bit better for longer.”

Despite a controversial mark being paid late in the game which saw Carlton retake the lead in the dying minutes, Longmuir said the Club would move on as they prepare for the clash with Port Adelaide next Saturday.

“The players clearly thought they touched the footy and they still say that now, but that’s a really hard call for the umpire to make without going to a replay, which we don’t want to do for every decision,” Longmuir said.

“We just need to move on because the umpires are never going to backtrack.

“We just need to move on and control what we can control in those moments.

“We will review the game like we have for our first three games, look to get better, look to tidy up those moments and next time we are in that situation we can hopefully close it out.”

In other positive news, Longmuir said the team would plan to see the return of key ruckman Sean Darcy ahead of the round five game.

“We’ve still got to get him through main training, which is probably the biggest hurdle he needs to tick off,” Longmuir said.

“If he gets through that we will look at bringing him in."

Fremantle will remain in South Australia for the week as they prepare to face fellow 3-1 Port Adelaide in a primetime Saturday night match next week.
