Fremantle Senior Coach Justin Longmuir said that although the team turned the contested game around and dominated inside 50s, it was Collingwood’s efficiency going forward that proved the difference.

After recording a -28 clearance differential against St Kilda the week prior, Fremantle responded strongly, leading disposals (375–300), contested possessions (135–121), clearances (44–29), and inside 50s (63–34). However, Collingwood's 73.5% efficiency going inside 50 saw the Pies kick 15 goals from just 34 entries.

“The difference in the game was clearly their efficiency,” Longmuir said in his post-match media conference.

“83 points from 63 entries - we needed more bang for buck.

“At worst, we’ve got to give our tall forwards more of a chance than the defender. What I mean by that is we were a little bit haphazard with the way we kicked the ball in there at times.

“Down the other end, the maturity they showed - just to take the extra step, scan the ground, and at worst get it to their tall’s advantage - was the difference.

“We need to find a little bit more consistency in that area of the game.”

Reflecting on last week’s disappointing performance against St Kilda, Longmuir said the team always reviews games the same way - by digging deeper than the scoreboard and focusing on weekly processes.

“We approached the review in the right way. We wanted to make amends,” Longmuir said.

"It's disappointing when you look at the scoreboard, but I’m a lot prouder of our effort. I thought we had some clear focuses going into the game, and we got a lot right.

“Clearly, it’s just disappointing that we didn’t get the job done on the scoreboard - but we got a lot right.

“We try to get away from reviewing the scoreboard. Whether we’ve had better wins or worse losses, we don’t review the scoreboard - we review the method, the trademark, and those types of things.

“We got a lot right.”

Fremantle now move to four wins and five losses for the year, with games against GWS, Port Adelaide, and Gold Coast to come before the mid-season Round 13 bye.
