Walyalup High Performance Manager Phil Merriman says ruckman Sean Darcy and midfielder Nathan O’Driscoll could both be available for selection for the Club’s home Sir Doug Nicholls Round game against Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide) at Optus Stadium.

“He’s (Darcy) good. He progressed well through the gears last week and the plan is to see him main train on Wednesday,” Merriman said.

“If he gets through that, he’ll be available for selection.

“O’Driscoll is very similar. He’s had a good week in the reconditioning program and once again, he’ll be training fully on Wednesday.

“We’ll make sure he pulls up well from that and he should be available as well.”

Veteran Nat Fyfe continues to edge closer to a return to match minutes following his hamstring injury, with Merriman confirming the 240-gamer will increase his training loads this weekend.

“As ever with Nat (Fyfe), he is extremely diligent in his training,” Merriman said.

“He’s been outstanding. We’ll see him do a higher-volume football circuit this weekend - which will be controlled - and then hopefully he’ll be available for selection the following week.”

Positively, forward Sam Sturt has had his return timeline from knee surgery brought forward.

“Again, all going to plan he, (Sturt) will do a similar program to Fyfey,” Merriman said.

“He’ll complete a football circuit on Saturday and we’ll hopefully have him available for minutes the following week.”

Midfielder Jaeger O’Meara has reached a mini milestone in his comeback, returning to running for the first time since injuring his foot and hamstring in Round 6.

“He’s (O’Meara) starting to load both the foot and the hamstring,” Merriman said.

“That’s going to take a little bit of time now that he’s out there running, but we will hopefully see him post-bye.”

Veteran forward Michael Walters continues to progress through his rehabilitation from a knee injury and remains on a similar timeline to O’Meara.

“He’s (Walters) going really well. He’s entered the football program and we’re loving his energy - as always with Sonny (Walters),” Merriman said.

“We will hopefully see him similarly to Jaeger (O’Meara) post-bye.”

A week on from injuring his knee with Peel Thunder in the WAFL, Merriman says mid-forward Quinton Narkle will continue to be monitored before further progressing his recovery.

“Clinically, he’s progressing really well,” Merriman confirmed.

“As mentioned, he’s avoided surgery, so we’ll just monitor how he progresses clinically over the next week or so and hopefully have him out there running soon.”
