The Fremantle Football Club is thrilled to announce the extension of AFLW senior coach Lisa Webb's contract for an additional two years, securing her leadership through to the end of the 2027 season.
Since her appointment as Senior Coach of the Fremantle Dockers AFLW team in early 2023, Webb has quickly established herself as one of the competition’s most respected emerging leaders.
A former player who transitioned seamlessly into coaching, Webb brought with her a strategic mind, a deep understanding of the modern game, and an unwavering belief in building a culture-first environment.
In just her second season at the helm, Webb took Fremantle from a 13th-place finish to a top-five position and a return to finals, a turnaround that underscored her coaching impact.
Under Webb’s leadership, Fremantle have played with renewed identity, combining disciplined, contest-first football with flair and freedom in transition.
Her ability to connect with players on a personal level, foster resilience within the group, and implement clear tactical frameworks has been widely praised.
The 2024 campaign was a defining season, after losing key players Kiara Bowers, Ange Stannett and Ainé Tighe, Fremantle recorded eight wins from 11 games, securing victories against premiership contenders and earning a spot in the semi-finals.
It was a year marked not only by wins on the field, but by clear growth in belief, cohesion, and accountability within the squad.
What makes Webb’s rise especially compelling is the balance she strikes between professional excellence and personal integrity.
Her background in education and sport science, combined with lived experience as a former AFLW player, gives her a unique lens into performance and player wellbeing.
She leads with authenticity and sets high standards, not just in skill execution or tactical discipline, but in the behaviours and values that define a strong team.
Reflecting on her impact, Webb shared her thoughts on the team's growth mindset.
"Our focus has always been on pushing boundaries and striving for greatness,” Webb said.
“It's been a privilege to witness their growth and see them embrace challenges with such enthusiasm."
The extension of Lisa Webb's contract is a testament to her exceptional leadership and the positive influence she has had on the playing group.
Head of AFLW Claire Heffernan expressed her excitement about the contract extension.
"The positive impact Webby has had on our program has been immeasurable” Heffernan said.
“Her commitment to educating and developing our players, as well as building a connected and high performing culture allows us to constantly evolve and build towards sustained success.
“We are confident that under her continued leadership, Fremantle will achieve even greater heights in the coming seasons."
As Fremantle continue their pre-season, the Club is enthusiastic about the growth and success of this current playing group for the upcoming 2025 season and beyond.
