Fremantle will launch its 2025 NAB AFLW campaign at home in front of the Purple Army, hosting grand finalists Brisbane Lions in a blockbuster Round 2 clash at Fremantle Oval, the Club’s spiritual home.
This opening home game marks the first meeting between Fremantle and Brisbane since 2022 and kicks off a thrilling six-game home schedule featuring back-to-back home games in both Rounds 2 and 3, and Rounds 5 and 6.
Fremantle Oval will host matchups against reigning premiers North Melbourne, rivals West Coast in the RAC Derby, and fellow Victorian Clubs Melbourne, Essendon and Richmond.
Before the home opener, Fremantle hits the road to face Port Adelaide in an away clash at Alberton Oval on Sunday 17 August to get the season underway.

In 2025, Fremantle Oval will again be the backdrop for two of the most meaningful events on the AFLW calendar, Indigenous Rounds and Pride Round.
Indigenous Rounds fall in Rounds 3 and 4, and Fremantle will once again be proud to announce it will be known as the Walyalup Football Club as they celebrate First Nations heritage and culture.
The Round 3 match at Fremantle Oval against North Melbourne will be held during the AFL Men’s Finals Bye Week and will be the only place to get your Freo Footy fix.
Then in Round 9, Fremantle hosts Melbourne for a Pride-themed showdown under a new two-round format allowing every club to host their own celebration of diversity and inclusion. Fans can expect a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere and a fierce contest on the field.
Fremantle’s Head of AFLW Claire Heffernan said the Club is pleased with the line-up for the season ahead, with the squad raring to go.
“We are thrilled the AFLW season is within reach and the fixture release adds to the anticipation and excitement of our group,” Heffernan said.
“We love playing at our spiritual home in Fremantle Oval in front of our home crowd, with six opportunities this season to put on a show for the Purple Army and showcase the hard work and dedication the players have put in all year."
While the home schedule is packed with highlights, the road ahead is a true test. Fremantle, who finished 5th last year, will face every other 2024 finalist – North Melbourne (1st), Hawthorn (2nd) Brisbane Lions (3rd), Adelaide Crows (4th), Port Adelaide (6th), Richmond (7th) and Essendon (8th).
The side will travel across the country to Sydney and Adelaide twice as well as back-to-back games in Melbourne around AFL Grand Final weekend.
“We have a side who embrace the mentality of playing any team, anywhere, and we relish these away trips as a unique opportunity for everyone to connect and cement their strong bond away from home,” Heffernan said.
“For the past two years, we have had the opportunity to spend a week in Melbourne for back-to-back away games in Victoria during AFL’s Grand Final week, and this year we look to embrace that experience once again.”
This year, the AFL altered the competition for 2025 and brought the opening round forward two weeks to include 12 games over a 12-week regular home and away season for the first time in AFLW history.
There will be no better place to witness the highs, hits, and heart of AFLW than Fremantle Oval in 2025.
