Fremantle Chief Executive Officer Simon Garlick has called on Fremantle members and fans to remember to buy their tickets to the Club’s Round 14 away game fixture at Optus Stadium this Saturday.
Speaking to Mark Duffield on SEN WA on Tuesday morning Garlick explained the origins of the deal with North Melbourne, and reminded Fremantle fans that tickets must be purchased to the game as it was an official away game for the Club.
“It’s a big weekend for us on a number of fronts… a really important one off the field for us given the amount of work the Club did in driving this outcome in having a 13th game in Western Australia," Garlick said.
“We saw the spectacle in Bunbury on the weekend but it’s a massive opportunity for us to have another game at home (Optus Stadium).
“We did the deal late last year, so we weren’t able to build it into our membership packages, so unfortunately our members don’t get this game included within this package so they have to get online and grab a ticket.
“If we can get a number in that mid to high 30’s this week as the away team it means not only, do we cover our costs in under riding the game from North Melbourne but hopefully we can get a bit in front of that as well.”
On field Garlick said although the lead into he bye had showed positive signs, continuing that form and focusing on one week at a time is crucial in a long season.
“We understand that after a game like the Gold Coast we want to enjoy it internally without going over the top,” Garlick said.
“You do celebrate together after a game (like that) and enjoy the plane ride home and understand that it was a good win built off an incredibly strong performance during the week that led to that win.
“It’s a month of solid footy with three wins mind you, but that doesn’t guarantee you anything over the course of a long year, so the focus is clearly on North Melbourne this week."
Fremantle and North Melbourne will bouncedown at 5.35pm WST on Saturday 14 June at Optus Stadium, tickets for the game can be found here.
