Fremantle’s pre-season fixtures have been locked in, keeping them in Perth for back-to-back weekends against St Kilda and West Coast Eagles as the squad inches closer to the commencement of the 2025 NAB AFLW Season.

These matches present the first opportunity for fans to get a glimpse of Fremantle’s fresh faces, and how the side is tracking ahead of the Round 1 clash with Port Adelaide on Sunday 17 August.

In a RAC Derby preview match, Fremantle and the Eagles will face each other in a Match Simulation Training at Fremantle’s training ground of Victor George Kailis Oval in Cockburn, Saturday 26 July, 10am WST.

The AFL RAC Derby will take place later that afternoon at Optus Stadium, allowing fans the opportunity to see Fremantle’s AFL and AFLW teams in action on the same day.

The following week, Fremantle will host St Kilda for a Practice Match at Victor George Kailis Oval, Saturday 2 August, 9am WST.

It will be the only opportunity fans will have to watch Fremantle and Saints face each other this season, with the last match-up between these two sides resulting in a win for Fremantle 3.7 (25) to 2.2 (14).

The Practice Match will be free to attend for all fans, offering fans the chance to head down to Cockburn, connect with Fremantle’s AFLW squad and experience AFLW.

Teams will be announced by the AFL at 3.30pm (WST) the day before each Practice Match, with the match to be streamed via Fremantle’s Club website.

The format, number of players, game length and number of breaks for the Match Simulation Training will be agreed upon by the competing teams.

Arrangements and public access for Match Simulation Training will be managed and communicated via Fremantle's Club website in the lead up to the event.

AFL Executive General Manager of Football Operations Laura Kane said practice matches and match simulation training provides clubs the chance to have a strong hit out before the season.

“As anticipation builds towards the start of the AFLW’s 10th season, practice matches and match simulation trainings provide clubs with an opportunity to test themselves against their competition ahead of the season officially getting underway on August 14,” Kane said.

“We know there’s an enormous amount of hard work and preparation that goes into every pre-season from across the board – players, coaches and staff – and we’re looking forward to seeing the teams in action for the first time this year.”
