Fremantle High Performance Manager Phil Merriman says forward Sam Switkowski and midfielder Will Brodie are likely to be available for selection, pending their main training sessions on Thursday.
Switkowski has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the Club’s Round 14 win over the Kangaroos, while Brodie has been in concussion protocols following a heavy knock in Round 11 of the WAFL.
“We’re a big chance (to see Sam),” Merriman said.
“Sam’s got to complete training on Thursday, but the plan is for him to be available for the weekend.
“He (Brodie) has come up well this week and again he’ll complete the training session on Thursday and be available for selection.”
Merriman confirmed midfielder Hayden Young is inching closer to an AFL return after undergoing hamstring surgery early in May.
“He’s getting closer and closer,” Merriman said.
“He will complete a couple of sessions this week.
“Peel has a bye on Saturday and he’ll do a big planned session with that group, with the aim for him to be available the following week.”
Nat Fyfe continues his calf rehabilitation, with Merriman revealing the midfielder has started running again.
“It’s progressing as planned (with Fyfe),” Merriman said.
“He’s started his running progressions and we’re looking at another two to three weeks for him.”
Finally, youngster Cooper Simpson reached a milestone in his AC joint recovery, reintegrating into the football program for the first-time following surgery on his left shoulder six weeks ago.
“He (Simpson) entered the football program this week,” Merriman said.
“The plan is to introduce contact next week and around the Round 20-mark, Cooper will be available.”
