Fremantle High Performance Manager Phil Merriman has confirmed that Corey Wagner’s season is over after injuring his pectoralis major muscle in Sunday’s win over the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.
Merriman revealed the hard running midfielder/defender underwent surgery early Tuesday morning.
“It’s really, really disappointing for Wags,” Merriman said.
“He’s ruptured his pec major muscle, so he’s gone into surgery today to repair that.
“He won’t be seen again for the rest of the year.”
Pressure forward Sam Switkowski will be a test for Fremantle’s Elimination Final after suffering a contact injury to his knee against the Dogs.
“He copped a couple of knocks to his knee during the game, so he’s a bit sore at this stage,” Merriman said.
“We’ll work him through the gears and it’s great to have the week off for him.
“We’ll hopefully get him up to be available next week.”
