From remote towns and communities across the Kimberley, students are preparing to come together for the largest Kimberley 9s in history. This year we’re set to hit record student participation, with young people ready for two incredible days of footy, culture, wellness, and connection.

What makes the Kimberley 9s so powerful isn’t just the footy on the beach, or the workshops being delivered – it’s the collective effort of the community, organisations, and partners who step up to make it all possible.

At the heart of it is our major partner WA Police, who have been with us since the very beginning. Their support has helped shape the carnival into more than just a sporting event. Together, we’re harnessing the power of sport to break down barriers, strengthen relationships between police and community, and help schools boost attendance while reducing anti-social behaviour.

The 2025 carnival also sees the return of Containers for Change, our Connected program delivery partner. Every student will take part in their Caring for Country workshops, building awareness of sustainability and environmental responsibility, with hands-on activation at the carnival itself.

On the ground, none of this would happen without partner Kimberley Regional Service Providers. Their local knowledge and expertise, and tireless work behind the scenes make the logistics of hosting such a large-scale event possible.

We’re also grateful to the Shire of Broome, whose funding supports the event, helping drive positive outcomes for local Broome kids and the wider Kimberley community, alongside logistical support that ensures everything runs smoothly.

This year we also welcome a new supporter in Kimberley Marine Support Base, joining the family of partners helping us deliver real impact. A big thanks also goes to Programmed, who once again have been pivotal in pulling all the pieces together.

And finally – none of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, including the Goodeve Foundation, Paz Family, and Scott Bader Group. Their belief in the Kimberley 9s ensures young people continue to have access to life-changing experiences both on and off the field.

2025 will see 550 students down on Cable Beach, playing along some of their footy heroes with Bailey Banfield, Holly Egan and Michael Frederick locked in to join.

“It’s amazing to see so many great partners coming on board,” Banfield said.

“It really is many hands make light work and it’s all based around giving these young people the best experience possible and having the biggest impact that we can which is why everyone loves being involved.

“I’m so excited to get back up to Broome for the carnival to work with the crew up there, and it’s great to see the program continuing to get bigger and better every year.

“We’ve got a record number of kids and schools involved this year, and we can’t wait to hang out with everyone!”

With record numbers, powerful community partnerships, and an unforgettable carnival ahead, the Kimberley 9s continues to prove that when we come together, we can achieve something truly special for our young people.
