Fremantle AFLW senior coach Lisa Webb believes the best is still to come from young, versatile forward Tunisha Kikoak.
Kikoak was instrumental in Freo's come-from-behind win on Saturday against the GWS Giants, kicking her side’s opening goal of the day, as well as a crucial fourth-quarter goal to help secure a narrow seven-point victory.
“She’s just a young player who is finding her way,” Webb said.
“When she runs and launches at the ball… she doesn’t realise how impressive she can be.
“We’re trying to instil that belief in her - that when she runs and launches, she’s hard to stop.
“I’m really pleased with a couple of her efforts today, and I think she’ll only continue to get better.”
On the other end of the spectrum, Webb was once again in awe of experienced dynamo Kiara Bowers, whose impact was once again crucial late in the game.
Now in her tenth season for Fremantle, Bowers put on a masterclass, racking up 23 disposals, 10 clearances, 13 contested possessions, 10 uncontested possessions, eight inside 50s, three score involvements, and 492 metres gained.
The 59-game player came up clutch in the final term, gathering 10 of her disposals, five clearances, five inside 50s, and four tackles - all in the fourth quarter - as Fremantle pried victory from the jaws of defeat.
“I know they’ve got a great inside-mid team as well, so sometimes just having Turbo to lean on… she’s a real role model within the community, but within our team also,” Webb said.
“I know this round means a lot to her and her family.
“I’m really thankful (for her), because she’s a terrific player.”
Fremantle will be out to continue its late surge when it hosts Richmond at Fremantle Oval on Saturday at 2:05pm AWST.
