Philipa Seth has decided to call time on her AFLW career after eight seasons on Fremantle’s list.

Seth was selected at pick 28 in the 2018 AFLW Draft, making her debut in Round 1, 2019, against Melbourne. She went on to play every game that season including Freo’s Preliminary Final against Carlton.

After a successful debut season, Seth was awarded Freo’s Best First Year Player award and continued on to play a total of 58 games for Fremantle over her eight seasons in purple.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a career-best 2024 season, amassing 92 disposals, 46 tackles, 16 marks, and kicking two goals from her 12 games, spending the majority of her time across half-back and the wing.

A selfless warrior on the field, Seth calls time in purple with the 10th-most games played in Freo’s AFLW history, consistently putting the team first with her role-driven attitude.

Fremantle Head of AFLW Claire Heffernan emphasised Seth’s team-first mentality, praising the 31-year-old for her career.

“From the moment Phil walked through our doors, she has embodied exactly what it means to be a Freo player,” Heffernan said.

“She is the role player every coach wants and every teammate values, is super driven and always ready to back in her Club.

“Phil’s work ethic has set the standard at our Club. Whether she was preparing at training, stepping into new roles, or mentoring younger players, she always gave her absolute best and lifted everyone around her.

“While we’ll miss seeing her in the jumper, I’m incredibly grateful for everything she’s given our club and wish her all the best for the future.”

Fremantle's Round 12 loss to Adelaide brings Freo's 2025 AFLW season to an end, with the team finishing 11th on the ladder with six wins and six losses.
