Fremantle utility Luke Jackson says he can’t wait to see what key forward Josh Treacy can bring in 2026.
Treacy was one of the standout players alongside Jackson, Murphy Reid and Hayden Young in the Club’s AAMI Community Series match against Adelaide at Rushton Park in Mandurah on Saturday, with the key forward kicking five majors.
Speaking after the match, Jackson said that despite Treacy being just 23 years old, he is already a pivotal leader for the Club.
“He’s unreal. He’s still so young, but he is such a leader for us,” Jackson said.
“Some of the marks he takes, you just don’t know how he hangs onto them.
“He was unreal.”
Treacy captained the side in the absence of skipper Alex Pearce, who was managed by the Club due to calf awareness earlier in the week.
Jackson himself enjoyed an illustrious day, taking several strong contested grabs, kicking a goal and working well alongside fellow big man Mason Cox as part of the midfield brigade. He finished with 18 disposals, five marks, four tackles, 11 hit-outs and seven clearances.
The versatile big man is looking forward to playing a variety of roles in 2026.
“It was good fun today,” Jackson said.
“I got a good hit-out in the ruck. It’s always good fun in there.
“Then I had a good stint in the middle and impacted up forward.
“I think for me, it’s just a good builder into round one, keep working hard on all three roles.”
Fremantle will now face Geelong in the Club’s season opener at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, 14 March.
“It will be a cruisey couple of days of recovery,” Jackson said.
“Get the body right, plenty of beach dips and get ready for training on Tuesday.
“Then onto another good team in a few weeks’ time.
“Even though it’s a Community Series game, today will give us confidence.
“There’s still a lot to work on, but also a lot to be happy with.”
