Fremantle forward Chris Scerri will make his AFL debut on Saturday against the Melbourne Demons at Optus Stadium.

Scerri has had a whirlwind few months, traveling west in late November as a train-on, before earning the Club's final list-spot in February when he was signed as a Supplemental Selection Period player.

Speaking to fremantlefc.com.au, Scerri said he was excited to be making his AFL dream come true.

"It's been a crazy two months, Scerri said.

"I really haven't sat down and taken all in.

"It's been crazy, and I'm super excited.

"Who would have thought, only two weeks ago, or even a bit more I signed with Freo and now I'm debuting Round 2.

"Things can happen really quickly, and you just gotta get up to it."

The train-on position in purple came off the back of an impressive VFL campaign that saw Scerri win the Bullants' Best First Year Player award in 2025.

The 19-year-old immediately got down to work, and is now revelling in his opportunity to run out in Fremantle colours for the Club's first home game of the 2026 campaign.

"(I'm) especially looking forward to running out in front of the Freo Army, and I'm just keen to bring the pressure, show my traits as well, and just do my role for the team," Scerri said.

Fremantle’s team of 23 will be announced on fremantlefc.com.au at 3:20pm WST this afternoon.

Fremantle host Melbourne on Saturday 21 March at Optus Stadium, with the match commencing at 4.35pm WST. It will be Fremantle’s first home game of the season.

Fans are urged to arrive early as it’s the first time they will be required to adhere to Optus Stadium’s new SafeTix system to enter the venue.

The clash will be the second of Fremantle’s first three games to be shown on a delayed free-to-air broadcast.
