Young forward makes impact
Following a quieter Round 2, Fremantle recruit Tobyn Murray responded with a lively performance, collecting nine groundball gets, hitting the scoreboard with two goals of his own, and recording eight score involvements. A standout in the game, he showed an ability to be clean below his knees and it will be a performance he will look to build off going forward.
McDonald and Davies the pick of the defenders
Oscar McDonald was likely the pick of Peel’s defensive unit at the weekend, along with Hugh Davies. Both took a number of marks against the opposition, battling well aerially to deny Perth forward 50 entries. McDonald finished the day with 20 disposals and four marks, while Davies gathered 16 disposals to accompany his eight marks in strong returns from two of Peel’s more experienced players.
Kickett rising
A fellow lively young forward, Leon Kickett, produced arguably his best performance to date in the WAFL Reserves. The youngster gathered 21 disposals, five marks, five inside 50s, and two goals in the Reserves win. It was a strong performance brought on by his pressure without the ball, providing a dynamic display that he will look to build on.
