Fremantle high performance manager Jason Weber has described the hamstring injuries to Sam Switkowski and Griffin Logue as ‘minor level’.

Switkowski sustained his injury in the opening term of Fremantle’s JLT Community Series opener against Collingwood on Monday at Joondalup Arena and Griffin Logue came off late in the final term.

Weber is confident that the pair will not miss significant time this season, with their timeframes for return dependant on how quickly they hit their KPIs.

“Both Sam and Griffin have minor level injuries,” Weber said.

“At this stage, they’re both progressing through their individual KPIs with regard to their returns but we’re confident they’ll move along quite quickly.”

Fremantle have three players facing tests for this Sunday’s JLT clash with West Coast in Nat Fyfe (elbow), Sean Darcy (hamstring) and Reece Conca (knee).

Weber said that all three would train at the club on Friday.

“Nat’s progressing really well, obviously it was a minor surgery on his elbow,” Weber said.

“We’re in post-operative management mode at the moment. He’ll progress into training and we’ll see how he goes from there.

“Sean’s been training really strongly. We expect he’ll train fully on Friday to see if he’ll be available for selection.

“Reece had a little bit of complexity with a knee infection that he had.

“He’s been training well over the past fortnight and again, we’ll see him into training on Friday and we look forward to him being available for selection.”

Weber gave a positive update on Connor Blakely, who injured his hamstring during training in late January.

“Connor is really on target,” Weber said.

“He’s back to running and progressing very well, so we anticipate a strong return to AFL in the early rounds.”

Weber said that Hugh Dixon would miss three weeks of football due to a hip flexor picked up early in the week, while Luke Valente is also three weeks away from playing.

Weber said that Valente’s progression into full training has been delayed by a groin issue sustained prior to his arrival at Fremantle.

“Luke came to the club with some issues from his last year,” Weber said.

“We took the stance that with a young player, that we’d get him right before we send him into play.

“At this stage, he’s starting his return back into team training and doing a fantastic job.”

Weber said that Stephen Hill has returned to running after a recent setback.

“Stephen has an extraordinarily unique quad injury,” Weber said.

“He’s progressing well through his program. He had a slight strain last week and we anticipate only a small reduction in his program.

“He’s already back to running, so we hope to see him returning soon.”
