Stephen Hill is set to return after Fremantle’s round 12 bye with the running midfielder progressing from his quad injury, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

Hill is yet to play a game in 2019 after undergoing surgery in December, with the original injury causing pain when Hill kicked the football.

“Stephen is progressing really well in both kicking and running,” Weber said.

“He’s doing well and we’re hoping to see him up and going soon.”

Weber said he was pleased with how Griffin Logue fared in his return to football from a hamstring injury sustained in the JLT Community Series.

Logue played four quarters for Peel on Saturday against East Perth in the WAFL.

“Griffin played out a full game with very limited restrictions on his top end running,” Weber said.

“We’re very happy with his run and he was very excited to get through.”

Weber said that forward Hayden Ballantyne had returned to running from a hamstring injury while he expects Harley Bennell to return to football training in the coming fortnight.

“Harley’s doing really well,” Weber said.

“He had a very strong run at the weekend and we look forward to seeing him back into some football training in the coming week or so.”

Weber said that defender Shane Kersten is recovering well from a recent foot surgery.

“Shane’s been doing really well, he had foot surgery a couple of weeks ago,” Weber said.

“He’s progressed quite quickly on the back of that so we’ve got him up and moving and we’re hoping to see him return to football in the not too distant future.”

According to Weber, young forward Sam Sturt is focusing hard on building in the gym as he recovers from a concussion sustained in round three of the WAFL season.

“Sam’s concussion was a solid one and it was his second one for the year,” Weber said.

“We’re taking our time with that as there are some more investigations to go through.

“He’s training very strongly away from the main football group doing some limited drills.

“He’s also training really hard in the gym and doing some very good work on his development side.”
