What it means for Fremantle: A chance to steady the ship and maintain a top-eight spot after losing to Melbourne while adjusting the forward line without injured talls Jesse Hogan, Rory Lobb and Matt Taberner.

What it means for Carlton: The Blues have been competitive in David Teague's two games in charge, beating the Lions and just falling to the Dogs, and will want to continue on that path when they resume from the bye.

The stat: Fremantle have dominated Carlton since 2013, winning six of the past seven by an average margin of 34 points.

The match-up: Nat Fyfe v Patrick Cripps

Worth the price of admission alone to watch the two midfield bulls go head-to-head. Fyfe, ranked No.2 overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings, averages slightly more disposals (30.2 to 27.5), contested possessions (17.9 to 16.5) and marks (5.0 to 3.6). Cripps has the edge in goals (10 to six), clearances (8.2 to 7.9) and tackles (6.2 to four), and is sixth overall in player ratings.

It's a big week for: Brennan Cox

With no Hogan, Lobb or Taberner it's likely Cam McCarthy may return, but Cox will be relied upon as the spearhead. He has booted four goals in seven games this year playing a mixture of forward and back.

Big call: In-form Fremantle goalsneak Brandon Matera to equal his career-best haul of six majors and give All Australian selectors something to think about.
