Injury update: Ryan’s hammy

Injury Update 30. 07. 19 Jason Weber has the injury list coming out of Freo's Round 19 clash with the Bulldogs

Fremantle defender Luke Ryan is expected to miss three weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

Ryan sustained the injury in the third term of Fremantle’s clash with the Western Bulldogs on Sunday and took no further part in the game.

“Luke had quite a significant left quad cork in the second quarter, which he carried right through to the third,” Weber said.

“After half-time he just couldn’t get going. In his endeavour to play the game out, he strained that right hamstring, so unfortunately, he’ll be three weeks.”

Round 23 fixture set

Weber said that both Stephen Hill (quad) and Brennan Cox (hip) were moving forward through their rehabilitation.

“Stephen is progressing well, obviously the complexity around that quad is quite significant. He’s progressing with his strength training and moving towards running,” Weber said.

“Brennan has been a little bit slow but he’s certainly getting back to his running now and he’s almost back to full strength, so he’s progressing along his program nicely.”

Weber said he was hopeful ruckman Scott Jones (calf) would make his return to football this weekend.

“Scott’s up and about, he’s had a good training session last week and he would have played if there was a WAFL game,” Weber said.

“He’s a test from a technical perspective but he ran well today and we look forward to having him back in.”
