Fremantle-listed midfielder Bailey Banfield fared well at the Sandover Medal count on Monday, finishing ninth with 15 votes despite playing just 11 of Peel Thunder’s 18 games. 

The count was won by Subiaco’s Lachlan Delahunty, who polled 28 votes. 

Banfield had four best on ground performances, with three votes in the following games; 

  • Round 3 v East Fremantle: 31 disposals, eight marks, two goals
  • Round 11 v Perth: 32 disposals, 10 marks
  • Round 15 v East Fremantle: 30 disposals, 12 tackles, two goals
  • Round 19 v Swan Districts: 38 disposals, 13 tackles, one goal 

The 21-year-old averaged 26.4 disposals, 4.2 marks and 7.2 tackles per game. 

Fellow midfielder Mitch Crowden also had a good showing with eight votes from his 11 games played. 

This included a best on ground performance in round one against West Perth, where he had 32 disposals, six marks and five tackles.
