Fremantle AFLW players have hit the ground running with a time trial to mark the start of a new-look pre-season.

Coach Lisa Webb’s squad has assembled this week and the high performance team welcomed players with three one kilometre runs at Victor George Kailis Oval.

With times averaged across the runs, midfielder Tilly Banfield finished on top, followed by veteran Kiara Bowers (who completed two of three runs), Georgie Brisbane, Meg Kauffman and Gabi Newton.

This pre-season marks a major shift in the Club’s AFLW training schedule with all sessions now held during the day.

For the past 10 AFLW seasons, Fremantle players have trained on evenings and weekends, often juggling employment and study commitments during the day.

The move to a day program has been welcomed by the AFLW program, in strong collaboration with the men’s program, plus the Club’s facilities and administrative teams.

New faces in Fremantle’s 2026 squad include Mia Anderson (Tasmania), Mon Bessen (Sturt), Charli Hazelhurst (Norwood), Eden Zanker & Lily Johnson (Melb Demons), Aiofe Healy (arriving from Ireland later this week) and last week’s pre-season draft pick Noa McNaughton (East Freo).
