Here are three things we saw from Peel’s 22-point win over West Coast at Mineral Resources Park

Sean Darcy returns

Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy made a successful return to the field on managed minutes following a calf injury that sidelined him for a month.

Darcy last played in the Club’s Round 5 win over Collingwood, where he sustained a concussion. In wet and windy conditions, Darcy played around 80 minutes of game time.

Darcy was one of the best big men on the ground. Up against Eagles ruckman Matt Flynn, Darcy had a big influence on the game, with his handling of the ball overhead particularly noticeable in the testing weather conditions.

He took six marks in total, including strong contested grabs. It was a strong return for the 203cm big man, with the way he worked back into the game providing a good foundational building block as he pushes for an AFL return.

Recruit shows his class

Tobyn Murray arguably put together his best game of the season on the weekend.

The Fremantle second-round draftee had seven tackles, four inside 50s, and converted nicely in front of goal, finishing with two goals. One of those was a classy finish, where he stepped around the mark and then snapped a checkside on the run to score. Later in the game, he then nailed a set shot to really put the game to bed and secure the four points for the Thunder.

His contest work and ability to drive his legs were first class and stood out in the conditions.

Tough conditions no issue for rolling Thunder

The wet and wild conditions over the weekend proved no issue for the Peel side, who have now notched up four consecutive wins and sit second on the WAFL ladder.

It was a really strong performance in trying conditions that included the odd heavy shower and strong winds. After adjusting in the first quarter, Peel really went to work in quarters two, three, and four, dominating for large periods of the game.
