Fremantle utility Corey Wagner has signed a two-year contract extension with the Club, which will see him remain in purple until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Wagner, 29, is in his fourth season with Fremantle, having joined his third AFL club three years ago.

Playing all but two games this season, the pacey playmaker has played a variety of roles since joining the Club.

From running with some of the competition’s best as a lockdown tagger, to being an outlet kick and rebound defender off half-back, Wagner is the ultimate team-first player.

Wagner and his wife Michaela welcomed son Remy after joining Freo, with their growing family expecting the arrival of baby number two next month.

Head of Player Personnel David Walls says Wagner has well and truly found his home at Fremantle.

“Ever since joining Freo, Wags has just wanted to do absolutely anything needed of him for the team’s betterment,” Walls said.

“He’s a really selfless player and has the capacity to have his magnet thrown around and fill a need, which is a really strong trait to have.

“Wags and Michaela have really settled into their Freo life since moving west, got married, started a family, and are about to add another to their numbers, and clearly really feels like he’s part of the Freo family.

“In 2015, we interviewed Wags at his home in Brisbane. To have met him as a raw 17-year-old Queensland kid and then watched his journey, with so many ups and downs, to now being so settled as a family man and so valued at Freo is such a credit to his character and the man he is."

“We are so pleased to have him continue at Freo for at least the next two years, and we thank his manager, Tim Batty from Vivid Sports, who has been so integral to Wags being at Freo.

“He’s had some great moments while at the Club and made great connections within the side that go well beyond the four walls.”

Youngster Charlie Nicholls has extended his time in purple, signing on until the end of 2027.

Taken with pick No.34 in the 2024 National Draft, the 20-year-old key forward has been developing his craft over two WAFL seasons at Peel Thunder, playing 25 league matches and kicking 33 goals.

Walls said Nicholls is showing solid growth in all areas of his game and extending his contract is a great result for the Club.

“Charlie has come on in leaps and bounds this season and has shown great development as a key forward down at Peel,” Walls said.

“After having a delayed start to his career at Freo in 2025 with a back injury, he’s now playing some really consistent footy.

“He’s kicked 19 goals in 10 games this season, has put on some good size, and with another season under his belt developing under the likes of Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy and Pat Voss, we have great hopes for the 20-year-old."

“We’re confident he will continue to build and we’re delighted to have him sign on for another season.”

Both Wagner and Nicholls were previously out of contract at the end of this season.
