More than 160 aspiring young footballers came together at Cockburn Arc Oval for the inaugural Female Next Generation Academy (NGA) Woodside Energy 11–13s Carnival, on Wednesday 15 July, celebrating the conclusion of the four-week development program.
Representing the Club's five WAFLW zones, the girls spent the past month developing their skills under the guidance of Fremantle AFLW stars before putting their learnings into action at the carnival.
Ten teams competed across an exciting day of football, showcasing their growth, teamwork and passion for the game in front of family, friends and coaches.
Claremont Tigers, coached by Fremantle star Orlagh Lally, finished the day undefeated to claim the inaugural carnival title after a series of impressive performances.
The carnival marked an important milestone in the Club's Female NGA pathway, providing young female players with the opportunity to learn from their AFLW role models from the early stages of development.
Joining Lally, fellow Freo teammates Mim Strom, Áine Tighe, Monique Bessen, Georgie Brisbane, Lily Johnson, Aoife Healy, Noa McNaughton, Evie Parker and Mia Anderson coached teams throughout the four-week program and carnival, sharing their experience and helping inspire the next generation of female footballers.
The Club also extends its thanks to SEDA SBL and SEDA College for their support in assisting with umpiring throughout the carnival, the day would not be possible without their assistance.
