Fremantle AFL senior coach Justin Longmuir has outlined what he and his team are looking to perfect with five games remaining in the home-and-away season.

Despite the 28-point win over Port Adelaide on Saturday, and sitting firmly atop the AFL ladder, Longmuir said his team was still looking to learn and improve each and every week.

"We've got a lot to improve on in our game. We're not a finished product yet,” Longmuir said.

“If you sit still in this game and allow teams to catch up, you’ll get found out.

"So we've just got to keep our foot down and keep trying to look at areas to improve on."

One area the senior coach highlighted was his desire to see the team jump out of the blocks better in away trips.

Although they were able to come from behind again at half-time against Port Adelaide to secure the win, Longmuir would like his team to apply themselves better from the get-go on the road.

"There's a couple of early games on the road that we haven't started well and we've got ourselves on the back foot.

"That's a trend, so in three weeks we've got another early travel game against Melbourne.

"We can't start like we did today.

"We're still striving to be a team that can play anywhere against anyone, and clearly we're not the finished product with what we put out there today.”

Longmuir made sure to credit his players for their season, noting that every time he has presented them with a challenge or an opportunity to learn, the group has grasped it with both hands.

"Even though the gap between our best and worst today was pretty big, I think there are still some things we can go to work on."

Fremantle will now face West Coast in Round 20 in Western Derby 63 in front of the Purple Army on Friday 24 July at 6.10pm, with the Club hosting the Derby.
