Teenage mid-forward Murphy Reid has again extended his time at Fremantle, signing a three-year contract extension to tie him to the Club until at least 2032. 

Midway through last year – his first season in purple - Reid extended his original draft contract by two years to take him to the end of 2029.  

A new three-year agreement further extends the 19-year-old’s contract to the end of 2032, when he enters free agency. 

The long-term commitment from last year’s AFL Rising Star three days before his 20th birthday highlights his belief in the Fremantle Football Club and his love of life in Western Australia. 

Head of Player Personnel David Walls said the extension is the perfect outcome for Reid, his family and the Club. 

“Murphy is really settled in WA and he’s made some great connections with players, coaches and staff at the Club,” Walls said. 

“With Tasmania joining the competition, there is no doubt he would have been one of the most sought-after targets on their whiteboard, so locking him away long-term is a great outcome for the Club.” 

“The new deal will take him to 2032, which sees him through to free agency. 

“Murph’s on-field ability is growing along with his growing connections with teammates. 

“He’s really good at identifying their strengths and how he can best work with them to get the best outcomes for the team. 

“His versatility and flexibility to play and learn multiple roles has been really important to us. 

“Having another young Victorian re-commit long-term shows how much he is all-in at the Club.” 

Reid joins other long-term players contracted to Fremantle including Andrew Brayshaw (2031), Brennan Cox (2030), Sean Darcy (2030), Matthew Johnson (2030), Luke Jackson (2030), Judd McVee (2030), Pat Voss (2030), Caleb Serong (2034), Josh Treacy (2030), Hayden Young (2033), and now Murphy Reid (2032) who are all signed until 2030 or beyond.  

He becomes the 21st Fremantle player signed until at least 2028 or beyond.
