Fremantle have confirmed Hayden Young will return to the team for Friday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.

Young comes into the team in place of Corey Wagner, who is out with a hip injury.

Young missed the Round 20 Western Derby due to illness.

Speaking on 96FM on Thursday morning, Young said not playing the Derby was the right call.

“I think after I spoke on the phone here, I went into work and they just said, ‘go home, mate, you're not playing,’” Young said.

“I was kidding myself because I wasn't in a good way, and I probably wouldn't have been able to perform.

“It was the right call, and there's no point risking it at this time of year and trying to push through it. So yeah, I rested up.”

Young’s recall to the side will also see him run out for his 100th game for the Club.

Joining Young in the milestone match is another 100-gamer - key forward Josh Treacy, who coach Justin Longmuir paid tribute to in his Wednesday morning media conference.

“It's been a remarkable transformation into one of our most professional, hard-working players, and he (Treacy) sets a great example for those around him,” Longmuir said.

Treacy has been named in a forward pocket alongside Jye Amiss and Pat Voss, while Young will start on the interchange bench with Mason Cox, Matthew Johnson, Judd McVee and Nathan O’Driscoll.

Hugh Davies, Chris Scerri and Brandon Walker are named as emergencies for the clash.

Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs will commence at 6.10pm WST and will be broadcast live on Channel 7, and on Fox Footy from 6.00pm, as well as streamed live on Kayo, 7plus and Binge from 6.00pm.
